Australian retail sales fell 0.8% in July
Australian retail sales fell 0.8% in July on a seasonally-adjusted basis, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported Monday. Department stores were the largest contributor to the fall, with a 10.2% drop in sales, the ABS reported. Retail sales has risen 1.2% in June and 0.6% in May on an adjusted basis. Economists had been expecting a 0.2% rise in sales for July, according to data compiled by Dow Jones Newswires.
